Digital Storytelling Training for Teachers

The second CEDIS Newsletter highlights the successful Learning Teacher Training Activity held from 3–6 February 2025 in Rio Maior, Portugal, where teachers and project partners came together for an intensive series of workshops on Digital Storytelling (DST) for Circular Economy education. Across eight dynamic sessions, participants explored sustainability concepts, learned the fundamentals of DST methodology, worked on scripting and story development, and experimented with digital tools such as Canva, Book Creator, StoryboardThat, Prezi, Eleven Labs, and Audacity.

Throughout the training, teachers collaborated actively—brainstorming, crafting scripts, producing draft stories, and sharing their final outputs. Hands-on activities helped them embed Circular Economy themes using the Reduce–Reuse–Recycle framework, while collaborative exchanges supported creativity and peer learning. In addition to the workshops, participants enjoyed cultural visits organized by the Portuguese partner AEMS, enriching the overall experience.

The newsletter also reports that the project consortium is nearing completion of the Digital Storytelling Set of Educational Tools for Teaching Circular Economy, which will be available in seven languages and will include guidance on CE concepts, digital tools, best practices, school project ideas, media literacy, and skill development.
