Testing Innovation: Piloting Digital Storytelling for Circular Economy Education Across Europe

The third CEDIS Newsletter highlights the exciting results of the spring 2025 piloting phase, where the Digital Storytelling (DST) Educational Toolkit was tested in real classrooms across six partner countries: Türkiye, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Germany. More than 400 students and dozens of teachers took part in hands-on workshops, creative classroom sessions, and mini-projects designed to bring Circular Economy concepts to life through storytelling.

The piloting demonstrated how flexible and impactful the DST methodology can be. Students explored sustainability topics, created their own digital stories, and developed key skills such as critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and teamwork. Each country adapted the toolkit to its own educational context—ranging from inclusive storytelling activities in Italy to AI-supported creative projects in Portugal and local environmental narratives in Poland.

Teachers also shared strong positive feedback, noting that digital storytelling helped students connect personal experiences with global sustainability challenges. Across all pilots, the method proved to be a powerful bridge between innovation, inclusion, and environmental awareness.

The newsletter concludes with the next steps: finalizing revisions to the toolkit based on piloting results, publishing student stories on the CEDIS YouTube channel, and preparing national and European dissemination events.
